Digestive Endoscopy

Director of unit Dr. Michele Golia
Padiglione TIGLI (Monza 2)
Digestive Endoscopy is the major diagnostic method as far as digestive system cancer is concerned.
This procedure proves to be unique in diagnosis, therapy and in the monitoring of tumor development as well. As to diagnosis, technology has made a significant step forward, enabling in-depth investigation on the digestive system in several procedures like chromoendoscopy or ecoendoscopy.
Wireless technology is also worth mentioning: capsule endoscopy is a technique that allows complete exploration of the small intestine. The patient swallows a small, wireless capsule endoscope which directly visualises those segments of the gut that it is not possible to investigate with conventional equipment. The following step is therapy which allows treatment of early-stage cancers and is non-invasive.
